Fifty Shades of Grey

Remember that tie right there. You'll meet it again somewhere ;)

Disclaimer: I try not to divulge as much specific details as possible, and give away much of the obvious. When I read, I don't try too analyze it too deep, unless the story seems to require me to do so. My personal preference is on romance, with a bias on happy endings (I avoid reading books with emotionally-laden endings, though sometimes you really can't tell).

Here goes.

The first in the trilogy, the book is Twilight all over again, this time with graphical porno. The character buildup of the leads  Ana and Christian resembles much of Bella and Edward: awkward-NBSB-meets-perfect-guy-with-dark-secret where the girl is the supposed first true love the guy considers. And as part of the deja vu, the story mainly focuses on the compromise between the girl's normalcy and the guys peculiarities. Reading the book reminded me of Bella-Edward a great deal.

Despite the major deja vu in the story framework, the focal point of the trilogy is far more mature, though in the real and normal world, might just be as unexplored (less unexplored, actually) than vampires and wolves. The theme of the trilogy (I project) is not one being talked about commonly in random, senseless discussions. Book one can stir emotion (like the pa-drama parts ala Bella) depending on your sensitive side, though in your head you know the character is just playing ignorant and in denial.

The brief description at the back will give away the 'dark' tone of the backdrop, though nothing brutal and too vicious will come about and catch you offguard. Actually, book one is more on emotions and sensual pleasure.

Speaking of which, 'that' activity, in my estimate, is between one-half to two-thirds of the story. So yes, should you anticipate those kinds of scenes, you will not at all be let down by book one (perhaps you can even have too much). Well at some point I did think it was too much, and that's me already. But you gotta enjoy it anyway, haha!

Though so far, I still don't get the 'fifty shades' of Grey, apart from his wildly fluctuating but controlled moods, plus the fact that he has bizarre preferences. Perhaps in book two, of which I pray I might have time to start.

Overall, the book will keep you on your toes, its direction far less predictable than Twilight despite the resemblance (but please don't expect vampires, nor wolves), due to the fact that the theme is uncommon and unfamiliar to a common, normal person, well mostly anyway.

Rating: Highly consider reading. And reading again ;)
